Welcome to LGBT Rainbow, a rainbow pass-it-on challenge focused on LGBTQ+ characters from any media.

 

RULES

🏳️‍🌈 The challenge will follow the Modern Rainbow Colors - 1. Red 2. Orange 3. Yellow 4. Green 5. Cyan 6. Blue 7. Violet/Purple
🏳️‍🌈 Make 1 icon each time of the current color that is following the previous icon posted by someone else. No double posting.
🏳️‍🌈 Please follow the order of rainbow colors above, going from 1-7. That's red through violet and back over again in an endless loop!
🏳️‍🌈 Please post your icons as a new post to the community and tag posts with your username. Icons should be new and not previously posted elsewhere for any other challenge.
🏳️‍🌈 Use only canonical LGBTQ+ characters from tv shows, movies, comics or any other media.
🏳️‍🌈 There will be voting each time the rainbow is completed 4 times.

Love this idea. Is there by any chance a big list of characters for this? Some fandoms I know, but a lot I do not.

a question: I have been thinking of making icons for characters who don't have canon visuals (podcast characters, book characters who aren't on their respective covers, etc.) I would be planning to use stock images for that purpose. Would that fit within the purview of this comm or should I not use them for this challenge?

Question. How many times can you enter each round?

As long as someone has entered icon between your entries, so technically 14 icons per round is the maximum.

I was curious about things with more than one "universe" such as X-Men, like in the comics Iceman is gay but in the movies and cartoons he's not (or at least not yet?/not revealed to be anything but straight at least). Would it be okay to use the movie or cartoon version of Iceman? Or just use the version that's canonically gay.

Perfectly fine either way for me, just figured I'd ask before I assume wrong. Thank you!

I haven't really thought about that, on one side it would be a shame to not include those characters that have been around for more than 50 years and have large fanbases and are cannonically LGBT+ in the comics. On the other side, a lot of the time, comic characters are adapted very differently for shows/movies like Jon Kent (DC Comics) for example, even if we leave his sexuality out of it, the character in Superman & Lois has nothing in common with his comic book counterpart, except his name and being Clark & Lois' son).

So for now, I think it would be better to treat different media/adaptations as different characters and stick only to the cannonically gay version of the characters.

Sounds good! And very true! I think one of the reasons why I like the comic adaptations is because they can be different (from slight changes, to major ones) of their original design. And comics flex so much throughout the years so I love picking/choosing what canon to look at.
